Review:

The fifth instalment in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise and the second best since the original reunites the original cast with the comedy and charm of Johnny Depp, and the fun, ridiculous storyline that makes a great family friendly movie!

The dialogue is what you would expect, cheesy and cringe worthy at parts but funny and light-hearted. Johnny Depp is brilliant as always and is definitely the stand out for me! Going in, I thought he would be rusty having not played the character for a few years, but I was quickly mistaken! The rest of the cast were great and you cant really complain about them, everyone seems like they are enjoying themselves and it shows through their performances.

It did suffer from sequel-itis, being the 5th in the series. It felt like they were kind of milking it as the complicated and badly structured plot stuck out like a sore thumb. Also, It seemed more like a remake or reboot featuring the same scenarios, character’s and their decisions. We see the return of the dead, ghost pirates like we’ve all seen before zzzzzzzz!

Javier Bardem is excellent and plays the scariest villain we’ve seen in the franchise and hopefully the last as the series really needs to finish before it turns into utter rubbish!

Overall, it’s a fun family flick with slapstick humour and entertaining performances from Johnny Depp and Javier Bardem, but was also very unnecessary, never the less I really enjoyed myself!
