Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas may be the definitive GTA game. Iconic theme song, characters, music and even voice actors like Samuel L. Jackson as Officer Tenpenny!
Carl Johnson or CJ has returned to his home city (Los Santos) after hearing the tragic news that his mother has passed away, along the way he meets his homies who he knew from before. Sweet, Big Smoke and Ryder (loosely based off legendary rapper Eazy E) are among the characters you meet and get to know.
GTA: SA is easily my favourite game of all time, although the graphics and physics haven’t aged well; there is a reason classic GTA players keep coming back to play this entry into the widely popular series. Nostalgia and the wide range of activities available, ranging from weightlifting, to racing, to dancing and so many more, there is a type of buzz feeling you get when you play through the game for the 17th time! In my case anyway…
The storyline is very similar to every game in the franchise but this doesn’t take away from the quality of the excellent game. The memorable cheat codes always make for endless fun, including spawning in a jet, and even a jet pack!
Like I mentioned before, the gameplay is almost unbearable, unfortunately, because of glitches; pop in etc. But there is still time to cherish this masterpiece before it actually becomes unplayable. Recently, the game was remastered for newer generation consoles, which does improve on some of the problems, but still isn’t perfect. However, playing GTA: SA on the PS4 is an incredible, throwback experience!
